PROTOCOLS OF PRAYER , part 2
Wednesday, October 12th, 2011The word “Hallowed” has different meanings to different people. To the baseball fan, hallowed is Yankee Stadium or Wrigley Field. To the football fan it’s the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. To the Christian, it’s the Mount of Olives outside Jerusalem.
But in New Testament terms, especially the LORD’s PRAYER (below) it means “holy” or “make holy”….from the Greek word “hagiazo”. Today, we continue in our examination of what Jesus meant when He said…”THIS IS HOW YOU PRAY”. Again, the Lord’s Prayer below is a guideline and not meant to be a stand alone prayer as most people make it.
Matthew 6: 8-13:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
