SPEAK LIFE, LESSON 6 – IN JESUS’ NAME

There is ceremonial prayer and then, there is actual prayer. Ceremonial prayer is similar to the account which the Lord Jesus Himself gave when He told of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector both praying in the house of worship. He said in Luke 18:11: “”The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.” Then inverse 13, we read: “But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’
The difference between the two men were this: the Pharisee prayed to Himself while the Tax collector cried out to God in repentance.
there is no other way than to know His Word by daily reading of the Bible as well as praying without ceasing. We must know the Mind of Christ and to know that, the first qualification is to belong to Him…to be saved. But beyond being justified and made right by the Savior, we have to be listening to Him and not trying to skate into heaven under the wire like most Christians alive to do.
