I AM A BIBLE THUMPER BECAUSE……

Sbible_thumpero, where I was – factoring things in light of current trends and events. Then I suddenly heard a disparaging word from someone, who said he was looking out for the folks – the folks like me, that the reason we are losing a certain debate is because we are “Bible Thumpers”! I thought he was looking out for me. But there was more to just this tip of the day. A few days later, one of his “yes men” told this highly opinionated Harvard Grad how he should answer those of us upset with him about the “Bible Thumping” comment.  The ex-CBS big shot, informed the factoring host to tell us – the folks, the Christian folks – to “screw them”! That’s right.

This got me thinking: why do they despise the Bible so much? If it were not for the Bible, the God of the Bible and the main theme of the Bible – Jesus Christ, western civilization would not exist. Therefore, I need to come up with my own declaration of Faith of WHY I am what they say I am – A Bible Thumper! There may be more added to this as time goes by, but here goes
I am a Bible Thumper  because the US Constitution (via the Magna Carta) is based on biblical principles of life and liberty.
I am a Bible Thumper because I have the freedom to own the small plot of land, the Lord gave me stewardship of temporarily, because that Constitution grants me property rights.
I am a Bible Thumper because the Freedom Christ died for to set others free, leaves me freedom of mobility; freedom of speech; freedom of association and freedom to think.
I am a Bible Thumper because we can freely elect and then vote out of office those wish to represent us – until they start representing themselves first.

But most of all, I am a Bible Thumper because…..

THE LAST WORDS OF SOME FAMOUS PEOPLE

We must all travel the road of all mankind, back to the God Who created us. At the moment of death…and in some cases, way before that final moment, all of us will know our final destination. We will be sure of one thing – it is either one of two places: Heaven and fellowship forever in the Amazing Presence of God or Hell – eternal separation and torment in the lake of fire.

There is no mulligan; no do-over; no holding cell; no “Get out of Jail Free” card and no such thing as Purgatory! The Word of God says that it is appointed ONCE for man to die – and then the Judgment. In the twinkling of an eye, in a flash of light, in the draw of one breath we are immediately transported into eternity.

They say that the eyes are the window to the soul. I can vouch for that truth. Without going into detail, the Lord has shown me things which would scare the average person about someone else’s destiny. My prayer is those persons will seek forgiveness and salvation through repentance  before it is too late for them. As an evangelist and minister…whether it is street ministry or monthly ministry at three different retirement homes or witnessing to scores and scores of adults and children at the state fair….the lost sad eyes of so many would break your heart. It should also make us more intentional to reach as many with the Gospel of Christ before it is too late.  If you speak to chaplains and nurses who work in hospices, the reality of the finality is devastating. Not many are dying with the Peace of God, through Christ, before they depart this life. All kinds of screaming from those still alive including yells about “feet being on fire” and on and on. This is something we can do our best to change.

LESSONS LEARNED IN A SNOWY DITCH

I learned a couple lessons from being stuck at the bottom of a seven foot ditch, nose down in the snow. It happened while driving home two nights ago, in a blinding blizzard, with the road disappearing all of a sudden in the white-out. After getting over the initial shock, and wondering (while not blaming anyone for not stopping) when I was going to get out of this mess, I came to terms with a few things.

First, I wish to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for not just pulling me out of the ditch (via the tow truck guys) but for sending Law Enforcement guys from the County Sheriff’s department to check on me regularly. He woke me up the morning after, with Psalm 27 (SEE BELOW)in my heart and wish to surrender it and pray it back to Him right now:

Secondly, however, I think the most important thing I could share with anyone, who has gone through similar circumstances with either vehicles or illness or even sudden trauma

THE NONES, AND THE ME, MYSELF & JESUS CROWD

I  absolutely loved John Stonestreet’s commentary A Private Little Faith, Oct. 10th2012, at Breakpoint.org1. Concerning the new Pew Survey on Religion, he spoke of the group who have no religion at all as The Nones and those who say they are believers in Christ but have zero church affiliation as the Just-Me-and-Jesus crowd. This research revelation has been coming for years. However it may be surprising to many because the majority of Christians do not share their faith… so how would they know? According to the August 15th article in the Christian Post titled, Churchgoers Say Sharing Faith Essential, Many Never Do, a Lifeway Research poll indicated ….

(This powerful, fact-laden article, is written by First Baptist Church (Springfield, Il) Pastor Mike Henderson, Executive Secretary of Business Men in Christ)

DAY 14

FOR FREEDOM - HE SET US FREE

The following are the dictionary definitions of FREEDOM:

1. The state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint.
2. Exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3. The power to determine action without restraint.
4. Political or national independence.
5. Personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery: a slave who bought his freedom. (Source)

On the day we celebrate the biggest Birth of Freedom the world has ever seen, it would serve us well to take another look at what Freedom really means. It was more than just the removal of crazy King George III by the Continental Army, General George Washington and some rag-tag peasants. It was a dawn of a new day where the governed would govern themselves according to a set of Principles and not under some “divine right” of corrupt kings and queens. These principles were all based on the Bible.

It was a novel concept, a new paradigm. It was not to create another theocracy like Rome, but a land where non-believers in God would not just have the same rights and freedom to live peacefully, but could prosper as well. After all, the rain does really fall equally on the righteous and the unrighteous.  During the American Revolution, it was America’s pastors who were the conscience of the burst of Freedom and I would even venture to say that the First Great Awakening – the biggest Revival in the world at the time, had something to do with it. This Awakening was spurred by men like Jonathan Edwards – who preached the greatest sermon still in this country (Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, July 1741). George Whitefield and John Wesley fired up America for the Gospel and people saw that there was Freedom in the Gospel, through Christ our Lord, for the first time in their lives.
